Sleep Under the Stars to light the way for young Australians experiencing homelessness.

A NEW BEGINNING CAN START WITH YOU

Young people aged 0-24 make up one third of all homeless people in Australia.

With 1 in 3 having experienced family or domestic violence, it’s clear that home is not a safe place for many. Homelessness can have severe impacts on the mental and physical wellbeing of these young people.

But, by giving them a safe place to call home, and the support and resources they need, we can light a path to a brighter future for these young people.

Sleep Under the Stars

Sleep Under the Stars raises money to fund Stepping Stone House services for young people at risk or experiencing homelessness. By taking part in Sleep Under the Stars, you’re helping more individuals be supported at Stepping Stone House. You’ll help provide shelter, care, and development opportunities, to create a brighter future for these young people.

First taking place in 2015, Sleep Under the Stars has become a staple event for the Stepping Stone House community. In the nearly ten years since its inception, it has raised over $5.9 million helping countless young people find a home and the support they need to thrive.

Over the years, Sleep Under the Stars has been held at several iconic Sydney locations. From 2015 to 2019, it was held at Hickson Road Reserve, right beside the glorious Sydney Harbour Bridge. After online events in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 lockdowns, we returned in 2022 with a sleepout at Taronga Zoo. Last year, Sleep Under the Stars was at Cockatoo Island.

The 10th Sleep Under the Stars will take place on the Stargazer Lawn at Barangaroo on October 25th, 2024.

This family-friendly occasion promises a night filled with fun, activities, food, and stories from young people with lived experience of homelessness. With activities like shelter building, live music, and fun for all ages, it will be a night to remember. Participants across our community will also sleep out in their own way anytime in October.

Join us and make a difference. Together, we can light the way.
